Fort Washington, Pa. − July 16, 2026 − Senator Maria Collett (D-12 Montgomery) has announced $4,250,000 in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant funding for six community projects in her district.

“I pushed for these grants because I have seen what these places mean to our community and the people who count on them. A Healthy Pennsylvania is about more than avoiding illness. It comes down to whether the people around us have what they need to be whole, and every one of these projects helps build that. Right now, Mitzvah Circle is packing diapers and clothing for families in crisis across Montgomery County, and they have outgrown the room to do it. A growing Lower Gwynedd Township needs a public works facility that can keep pace for the crews who keep the township running. Peter Becker is rethinking how it cares for its skilled nursing residents, and I know from my own years in nursing how much those details matter. Upper Moreland’s new police station is an investment in the officers who keep our neighborhoods safe. In Whitpain, a new community center will give families a place to gather and stay active close to home. At Gwynedd Mercy University, accessible classrooms will open doors for students of every ability. This is the work I came to Harrisburg to support, and I am proud to have delivered it for Montgomery County,” said Senator Collett.

$1.5M FOR THE MITZVAH CIRCLE FOUNDATION

The Mitzvah Circle Foundation will receive $1,500,000 to build a new warehouse with multiple loading docks, cold storage, and additional parking. The Montgomery County nonprofit delivers diapers, clothing, hygiene products, and other essentials to families facing poverty, illness, and homelessness, and the expansion will grow its capacity to reach residents in crisis.

“Mitzvah Circle does the essential work of making sure families across Montgomery County have diapers, clothing, and the basics to get through a hard stretch, all without red tape or delay. This funding gives them the warehouse space to reach more people who need it, and I was glad to support it,” said Rep. Melissa Cerrato (D-151 Montgomery).

“Every box that leaves the Mitzvah Circle warehouse is a family getting help with dignity and speed. Expanding their facility means they can meet more of that need across our county, and I am proud this project earned the support it deserves,” said Rep. Steve Malagari (D-53 Montgomery).

$1M FOR THE LOWER GWYNEDD TOWNSHIP PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY

Lower Gwynedd Township will receive $1,000,000 to consolidate and centralize its Public Works operations to keep pace with a growing population. The funding will support site acquisition, site work, and construction of the new facility.

“Lower Gwynedd has grown, and its public works team has been stretching to do more with facilities that cannot keep up. This funding lets the township build the centralized operation residents deserve, and I was glad to advocate for it,” said Rep. Liz Hanbidge (D-61 Montgomery).

$500K FOR THE PETER BECKER COMMUNITY

Peter Becker Community will receive $500,000 for a comprehensive renovation of three areas within its skilled nursing facilities. The improvements will create residential-style living spaces and updated food service facilities for residents.

“Peter Becker has cared for our neighbors for generations, and this investment helps modernize the spaces where that care happens every day. I am glad to see state funding go toward the comfort and dignity of the residents who call it home,” said Rep. Steve Malagari (D-53 Montgomery).

$500K FOR THE UPPER MORELAND TOWNSHIP POLICE STATION

Upper Moreland Township will receive $500,000 for site work supporting the next phase of its Police Station project. The funding will cover excavation and grading, storm water management and a new storm sewer, relocated sewer, water, and electric service, new parking areas and roadways, and the building pad for the new station.

“Our police officers do their jobs best when they have facilities built for the work, and this funding moves Upper Moreland’s new station forward. I am glad to support a project that invests in both public safety and the people who provide it,” said Rep. Nancy Guenst (D-152 Montgomery).

$500K FOR THE WHITPAIN COMMUNITY CENTER

Whitpain Township will receive $500,000 for the construction of the Whitpain Community Center, which will include two basketball courts that can convert to six pickleball courts, meeting rooms, a fitness center, an elevated walking track, and a lobby. Site improvements will add parking, lighting, and trails connecting to the existing sidewalk and trail network.

“A community center is where a township comes together, from youth sports to fitness classes to neighbors simply meeting one another. I am thrilled to help bring this space to Whitpain and grateful for the state’s investment in it,” said Rep. Liz Hanbidge (D-61 Montgomery).

“This project will create and improve recreational activity for our community, giving kids and adults alike opportunities to play, exercise and gather together,” Rep. Matt Bradford (Majority Leader, D-70 Montgomery) said. “I’m grateful to the Shapiro Administration for investing in our community.”

$250K FOR GWYNEDD MERCY UNIVERSITY

Gwynedd Mercy University will receive $250,000 to renovate the Julia Ball Auditorium and academic space in St. Bernard Hall. The project includes HVAC replacement, flooring upgrades, ADA-compliant restrooms, an ADA elevator, performance and spectator seating, and technology infrastructure.

“Gwynedd Mercy University is a gem in our community, and these upgrades to its auditorium and academic space will serve students for years to come. I was proud to support accessible, modern facilities that open doors for learners of every ability,” said Rep. Liz Hanbidge (D-61 Montgomery).

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Governor’s Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.
