Harrisburg, Pa. − October 15, 2025 − After more than one hundred days of PA Senate Republicans’ deliberate budget delay, Senator Maria Collett (D-12 Montgomery, Democratic Caucus Chair) joined her Senate Democratic Caucus colleagues to send a letter urging Republican leadership to call the Senate back to session and vote on Senate Bill 160, a bipartisan budget bill passed in the House this month.
The letter highlights the very real impacts this extended budget delay has on counties, school districts, human services providers, and vulnerable families across the Commonwealth.
Senate Democrats condemn Republicans’ decision to go home rather than staying in Harrisburg to vote on SB 160, bringing much-needed relief to struggling Pennsylvanians and finally bringing this process to an end: “If put up for a vote, we believe SB 160 will pass with strong bipartisan support.”

Frustrated by Senate Republicans’ political games at Pennsylvanians’ expense, Senator Collett commented: “Let’s be honest, the Pennsylvania budget impasse isn’t gridlock, it’s sabotage. Senate Republicans think they’re hurting Democrats by dragging out this process, but they’re actually hurting working Pennsylvanians and the services they rely on. Let’s get back to work and deliver real solutions.”
