संघीय कार्रवाइयों का जवाब
Thanks to those of you who have reached out and shared your concerns about our country’s future under the Trump administration. I hear you. You are not alone. I’ve heard from thousands of constituents who are also experiencing deep uncertainty, worry, and frustration. To say these are challenging times doesn’t quite capture the weight of it all and it’s completely understandable to feel anxious, disheartened, or even overwhelmed.
Though I am not empowered as a state-level public servant to unilaterally stop the reckless and dangerous actions coming from the federal level, my team and I are watching closely and preparing to push back where and when we can. We remain vigilant, especially when it comes to protecting Pennsylvania’s budget and the critical programs our communities rely on.
We are working side by side with our Democratic colleagues in the Pennsylvania House majority and with Governor Shapiro to shield Pennsylvanians from the harm and inhumanity Trump, his billionaire allies, and their Republican enablers are pushing — whether they are in Washington or in Harrisburg. They may be willing to put the interests of the rich and powerful over the people, but we are not. We are committed to standing up, fighting back, and taking every action necessary to protect our residents’ well-being and dignity.
Already, Governor Shapiro was successful in suing the Trump Administration to restore access to $2.1 billion in funds committed to the Commonwealth—held up in an arbitrary and capricious spending freeze, which appears to have no other purpose than to break Government.
We continue to work closely with our congressional leadership and urge them to uphold our shared values. I encourage you to stay connected with their offices as well:
- Senator John Fetterman – 215-241-1090
- Senator Dave McCormick – 215-405-9660
- Congresswoman Madeleine Dean – 215-884-4300
- Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick – 215-579-8109
My colleagues and I in the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Caucus stand firmly in opposition to this administration’s sadistic and illegal actions, including the harmful policies that threaten our democracy, our rights, and the well-being of our communities. We share your concerns about the future of our country and want to affirm our commitment to fighting for justice, fairness, and progress.
While we are engaged in this fight for what it means to be an American and protecting the rights we hold dear, I also want to emphasize the importance of taking the time we each need individually to remain centered, grounded, and engaged. Change is a long road, and it requires persistence, advocacy, and a strong, united community. Please know I am with you in this fight, and your voice matters.
Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you have any further concerns or if there is anything we can do to support you.
In solidarity,
