This year, our Memorial Day celebrations look a little different, but the significance remains the same. Now more than ever, it’s essential that we honor the sacrifices of the men and women who have selflessly defended our democratic ideals.
Even in times of peace, the brave men and women of our military defend our freedoms and put their lives on the line for our families every day. During the coronavirus pandemic, members of our National Guard have been instrumental, assisting with testing efforts, food distribution, and more. We are very fortunate to have a thriving military community in the 12th District. They are a testament to the great men and women who came before them.
As we honor those we have lost this Memorial Day, I would also like to recognize all of the veterans in our community. Thank you for your service and dedication.
Please note that my office will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of the holiday. My staff and I will respond to your messages when we return next week.
I will be sending out a more in-depth update next week, but I’d like to share two quick updates:
- Governor Tom Wolf, Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine, and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency Director Randy Padfield will provide an important update today at 4pm. The Governor is expected to announce when additional counties will be moving to yellow. I’m hopeful that Montgomery and Bucks Counties will receive news. Watch live here or on Facebook.
- The Bucks County Back to Work Small Business Grant Program will be accepting applications Tuesday, May 26 between 5am and 9pm. Eligible businesses can apply for up to $25,00 for rent, payroll, and other operating expenses. For more information on the program and what you’ll need to apply, click here.
As always, you can visit www.senatorcollett.com/coronavirus for more resources or contact my office directly. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest.
Please continue to wash your hands, wear your mask, and stay well.
