No Excuse Mail-In Ballots Are Here
In January 2019, the Pennsylvania legislature passed an election reform package including several changes to make it easier for Pennsylvanians to cast their votes. One big change is the introduction of no-excuse mail-in ballots. Separate from traditional absentee voting, you can now skip the lines on election day and vote from home in advance – no excuse necessary. This is a great option for busy parents, those with limited access to transportation, shift workers, and anyone who may have difficulty getting to the polls during election day.
Applications for mail-in ballots are now live at VotesPA.com/MailBallot. You can also stop by my office in person or give us a call. We have printed applications available for your convenience.
Budget Hearings Begin
Budget hearings began this week, and as a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will be attending 2-3 hearings each day to discuss state agencies’ funding plans for the next fiscal year. I’m looking forward to asking tough questions and advocating for crucial services in our district and across the Commonwealth.

Coronavirus Updates from the Department of Health
On a recent call with Pennsylvania’s Department of Health, my office received updates about the coronavirus, or COVID-19. The DOH emphasized the risk of coronavirus in PA is low. There have not been any confirmed cases in Pennsylvania and there are no current animal hosts with the virus. There are only 29 confirmed cases in the United States at this time. According to the DOH, the real threat to Pennsylvanians is actually the flu – there are over 70,000 cases in our state and there have been 54 deaths so far. But there is still time to get your flu shot! Please take caution by washing your hands, covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing, disinfecting surfaces, and staying home when you are sick.

February Donation Drive
This month, my office is partnering with the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard in Ambler to collect food items for our neighbors. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! We will be collecting items from the cupboard’s February wish list through Friday, February 28 at our North Wales and Warminster offices. Please contribute if you can!
Fastnacht Day is February 25
Fastnachts are diamond-shaped, donut-like pastries originally made by the Pennsylvania Dutch to use up all of their sugar and fat before the Lenten season began. Tuesday, February 25 is Fastnacht Day (also Fat Tuesday), and bakeries around our district are offering these delicious treats. Make sure to pre-order this week if you plan to purchase a dozen or more!
I’m looking forward to making some fastnachts myself with the Little Zion Lutheran Church in Telford. You can order their homemade fastnachts here.
