Fort Washington, Pa. − November 21, 2024 − The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) awarded grant funding from the Digital Connectivity Technology Program this afternoon which will provide laptops to community organizations to improve education, workforce development, health, and employment outcomes.
This program allows the PBDA to purchase and distribute $20 million in laptops for eligible entities, $312,975 of which was allocated to organizations in the 12th Senatorial District.
“We live in the digital age where internet is no longer a luxury: it’s a basic need,” said Senator Maria Collett (D-12, Montgomery). “Thousands of Pennsylvanians either lack internet connectivity entirely or adequate access to broadband, leaving them without a way or the means to obtain the essential resources, tools, and community supports the internet provides. I’m thrilled to see two deserving recipients in the 12thbenefit from this funding and look forward to supporting more initiatives in the future that will help us close the digital divide in our Commonwealth.”
The recipients of this grant award in the 12th District are:
- North Penn School District: 200 Laptops
- Vietgroup Empowers: 25 Laptops
