(North Wales, Pa.) January 24, 2019 − Today, Senator Maria Collett (D-12) announced her committee assignments for the 2019-20 legislative session.

In addition to her chairmanship on the Aging & Youth Committee, Senator Collett will also be serving on the committees on Appropriations, Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure, State Government, and Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness.

“I’m honored by the committee assignments I have received for this legislative session,” said Senator Collett. “My diverse background as an advocate in both the medical and legal fields gives me a unique perspective on the issues impacting those in our great Commonwealth. I campaigned on a platform of listening and leading; that’s how I will approach these committees.”

Committees are often the first line of research and debate on any given issue.

“Committee meetings offer our members and the public the best opportunity to learn about legislation, and it’s important to assign Senators based on their interest and experience in the subject of each committee,” said Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa. “I believe we have a great roster of committee chairs and members here that will delve into the issues of our caucus’ platform.”

The Pennsylvania Senate returns to session on January 28, 2019.
